Bismuth rubidium alloys can be utilized as sputtering target materials for the deposition of thin films in the development of specialized alkali-antimonide or alkali-bismuthide photocathodes and optoelectronic components.

Used in the synthesis of photoemissive layers where rubidium-doped bismuth structures enhance quantum efficiency in vacuum photodetectors.
