Yttrium

Yttrium metal is used as a precursor for high-purity yttrium oxide and as a deoxidizer in non-ferrous metals to improve corrosion resistance.

Added in small amounts to reduce the grain size of chromium, molybdenum, zirconium, and magnesium, and to increase the strength of aluminum and magnesium alloys.

Yttrium metal targets are used in physical vapor deposition to create thin films for optical coatings and semiconductor research.

High-purity yttrium is used as an evaporation source for the deposition of thin films in electronic and optical applications.
